It’s a smoothie… no it’s a desert… no it’s a smoothie! With delish superfood ingredients like raw cacao, coconut and bee pollen, this smoothie will keep you going for the long haul and satisfy any sweet tooth.

Wondering what a superfood is? Superfoods are nutritionally rich foods that give you lots of bang for your nutrition buck. They are loaded with high-levels of much-needed vitamins and minerals. Translation for you= increases energy, prevents disease, counteracts the aging process and helps you function better all around. Superfoods are seriously good stuff.

Take for example cacao. Cacao contains antioxidants, minerals, heart healthy oleic acid, fiber, vitamins E and many of the Bs. Eating cacao increases serotonin levels and lowers cortisol levels (the stress hormone) which enhances mood and increases sense of wellbeing. This is the exact reason women like eating chocolate during their period, when they’re stressed or upset— pretty much anytime.

Bee pollen is a less famous but equally potent superfood. Got high cholesterol? Bee pollen increases HDL (‘good’ cholesterol), while lowering LDL (‘bad’cholesterol), and lowering overall cholesterol and triglycerides. It’s also known for it’s antibacterial, immune building properties and efficacy in remedying seasonal allergies*. For optimal results, choose bee pollen that was harvested locally in the area that you live.
